“Your device is corrupt” after flashing TWRP

So I wanted to root my Nexus 9 (Wi-fi only) and I followed a guide from teamandroid (cannot post links). I booted into the bootloader, selected fastboot and on my computer I typed: fastboot oem unlock and after erasing data and rebooting I typed fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.0-flounder.img. I then boot into TWRP. In the beginning it prompts for a password, I select cancel and proceed. But after selecting install it says Internal storage: 0 mb and nothing appears on sd card. When rebooting back to the system I am getting a "Your device is corrupt" message. Apart from that it appears to work fine (but I’m not able to root) So what’s up with that?
