Stuck on TWRP screen. Help Needed

Hi,

I have rooted G Flex, with Freedom Flex TWRP v.2.8.0.0

Did a factory reset as I wanted to gift my phone to my friend but after factory reset, it asked for an update and when I pressed yes, it went on to TWRP and is stuck there.

There is option to install, wipe, etc, but not sure which one to chose and what to do.

Lg Freedom folder has a recovery.zip as well.

Just wondering what is the option for me.

TWRP System Image Backup Error

Hello all!
This is my first time posting in the G4 thread, but not my first time playing with Android. I’m normally quite adept at stuff like this, but to make sure I don’t goof up my pretty new phone, I want to ask-
When I attempt to back up my System Image in TWRP (which is something new to me entirely- I’ve never even seen the option to back up a system image) I keep getting this error:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p47 of=’/external_sd/TWRP/BACKUPS/LG815[numbers]/[Date]//system_image.emmc.win’ bs=4194304 count=1035 process ended with ERROR: 1

I would like to try OctOS and CM13, just to see how they perform on the G4, but don’t really want to unless I KNOW I can get back through a Nandroid backup.
Any ideas or opinions? Does backup of the system image even matter?

Thanks so much! Thumbs up to whoever answers my questions. :)

Not sure what happened. TWRP works fine, android doesn’t. help?

So I’ve been running the same rom for the last ~2 months without issue. Yesterday the radio was dropping several times an hour. sometimes it would come back with data, sometimes not. I decided to wipe cache/dalvik cache. all night and this morning it was fine. around noon the radio dropped again. came back with data and seemed fine. a few hours later it started freaking out. whole screen goes black and slowly pops in with a black background like the launcher restarted. This progressively got worse to the point where I couldn’t do anything on the phone.

Once I got home I wiped the phone. upon booting half the screen was black, half with the welcome setup screen. (the black wasn’t a straight line, it was choppy across the screen like something out of tetris)

I then tried using the return to stock tool. SAME THING.

I reinstalled TWRP (lost it during the last step). Installed a stock 6.0 MM rom , same issue.

Here’s the weird part, the bootloader and TWRP function and run perfect. So i’m inclined to think theres a software issue and not a hardware issue. Any thoughts on this???

Must be S-Off.
This is a firmware update to 3.39.531..7
This will not wipe your phone.
This will have NO RED TEXT ON BOOT.
This has TWRP 3.0.0 included and will replace whatever current recovery you have.

to flash put the zip in whatever folder your adb.exe is in
boot into download mode
then in adb
type:

Code:

fastboot oem rebootRUU

then after phone reboot type

Code:

fastboot flash zip M9_3.39.531.7_NoWipe_TWRP3001.zip

more then likely you will get an hboot error. thats okay after the reboot type the exact same command again.

Code:

fastboot flash zip M9_3.39.531.7_NoWipe_TWRP3001.zip

after its done flashing type

Code:

fastboot reboot-bootloader

done!

[A5_CHL] Need TWRP Backup

SuperSU told me that my SU binary was out of date and so i tried to update it through TWRP like it recommended. Well that ended up failing in the middle of it (I don’t have logs) and it seems like the backup I had is missing from my SD card. Whenever I load android it goes black screen, it’ll show the back button and the status bar but none of that will be interactive. I can power it down but if i wait too long the buttons won’t work. Anyways I was hoping someone had a backup for the a5_chl phone.

Safe to just flash supersu through twrp?

Hi
I spent a few hours today taking my girlfriends stock D852 Lollipop G3 to KitKat, Re-rooting, flashing latest TWRP through Flashify, and upgraded to CM13.
Everything stuck and all is fine, but I just wanna know if I can now just flash supersu zip through twrp, like I can do with my Nexus 5 (GOD IT WAS SO MUCH EASIER) also, will my TWRP stick forever? what will cause it to be removed? all this ‘bump’ stuff and the phone being more locked down, has me confused..

Stuck in TWRP without access to ADB

Okay guys,

after 4 hours of browsing through this forum and the rest of the internet I have finally decided to write a thread by myself.
This is not my first android device, but the first one I have problems with so far.

My Kindle Fire HDX 7" with TWRP v2.7.1.0 and CM11 worked like half a year or so without any problems.
Yesterday I browsed through the XDA-forum and found a ROM with android 5.1 for my device.
Downloaded, flashed, didn’t work, made a full factory wipe (yes, I know that was stupid) and here I am.

Stuck in TWRP.

Some facts:

– no backup
– two options: TWRP (recovery) OR try to boot system -> error
– since I have erased everything on the phone -> no flashable rom or anything else
– working terminal (at least lol)
– working file manager (but still nothing on the tablet)
– adb not working (explained below)
– rebooting into download-mode keeps restarting the tablet
– "Reset to Factory Defaults" doesn’t work, it simply restarts after a few seconds and that’s it.

Well, so far, so bad.
My PC doesn’t recognize the tablet. I’ve tried like every driver on the internet.
It neither pops up in the device manager, nor in USBDeview, (really NO action happens).
Not in mounted mode, not in ADB-sideload mode.

I tried to use different usb ports, different cables and even different computers (2 on WIN10, 1 on WIN7).

BUT it charges via USB. At least the port doesn’t seem to be broken.

I’ve tried an OTG cable together with a storage device, but I am not sure if that ever worked, since I never used it.

My last hope is another OTG-cable. Or some kind of terminal command which fixes the USB.

Would appreciate any helpful ideas or commands :)

How to install Lollipop AOSP on Xperia E3 with TWRP Recovery?

Hello,
This is my first post in xda-developers
I came here to ask a question. How to install the lollipop AOSP got from this link: h t t p s : / / w w w . a n d r o i d f i l e h o s t . c o m / ? f i d = 2 4 2 6 9 9 8 2 0 8 7 0 1 0 4 6 0 (copy and paste without the blanks), (FreeXperia Project) to my Xperia E3 with TWRP Custom Recovery installed? I’m a noob in terms of rooting and custom roms. I am rooted (SuperSU) and unlocked my bootloader. I don’t want to get involved with adb or anything command-related. Is this possible with TWRP?
Or, if it isn’t, please help me with the commands as I don’t want to brick my device.:p

NOTE: I have done a nandroid backup, so don’t worry about that.:D

Cant Install CUSTOM ROMS (twrp Freezes/reboots Mid Flash)

Hi :)

Im having problems with putting a custom rom on my Note 3 N9005

First I want to mention I am new to all this (NEWBIE) but I have messed around with computers and flashing console for years
Second my phone came to me rooted noticed this when downloading root checker.
(Couldn’t tell you anything about it)

So I decided to try put a custom rom on my device as the fact I have been stuck on 4.4.2 since I got the phone

I started by putting a custom recovery using Odin my first attempt was ClockworkMod recovery 6.0.4.8 though every time I tried to boot into recovery it would state "REVOVERY MODE" restart and boot normailly:(. so I Installed Twrp 3.0.0 and worked:good: boots into it fine made a back up of my rom then cleared system, archive and dalvik/art cache after this I go to install the custom zip file Lordwolf as it goes through the flash the loading bar freezes after saying
"starting armoa installer virsion 2.70rc2 "
"(C) 2013 by amarullz xda-developers"
then just restarts after freezing for about 4 seconds with nothing flashed on the phone.

I have tried a few rom to the same outcome there is no real error just freezes and reboots.

I have tried to look for answer spending a good hour and thats an under statment!!

what am I doing wrong? am I missing something important?

Guide Odin Flash / Update firmware ODIN

  • You do not need to root or unroot the device to update the firmware.
  • Please ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray!

0. Download and Install: Samsung USB Drivers 1.5.51.0 and ODIN
1. Just download the firmware version you want from this posts and extract the .tar or .tar.md5 file in the archive and save it somewhere.
2. Reboot your phone to download mode. To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key+ Home button + press the power button .
You should see a warning asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, press volume up. You are now in download mode!
3. Start Odin 3.**

  • If your ROM is a single .tar.md5 package click on the AP/PDA button and browse to the .tar or .tar.md5 file that you extracted in step 1 and select it.
  • If the package has more than one .tar archive then they will be labelled with PDA/Code, Phone/Modem and CSC. Just put them in the corresponding section of Odin like below
    BL = Bootloader
    AP = PDA (CODE)
    CP = PHONE (MODEM)
    CSC = CSC

4. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.
5. Connect the USB cable and wait for any required drivers to install and the ID:COM section to turn blue like below.
6. Click start to flash.
7. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the device once the flash has started, it will reboot when it finishes.

*Note PDA/AP/CSC/CO/MODEM/etc

  • PDA refers to the build version of the software/firmware
  • Phone refers to the baseband/modem version
  • CSC is the consumer software customisation and is specific to geographical region and carriers. It contains the software packages specific to that region, carrier branding and also APN settings for data connection, MMS etc for your service provider.
  • .PIT refers to the partition information table you only need it if you screw up your partition table or if the firmware specifically requires it because of a change in the partition table layout. It’s very likely you may never have to use this.

If the package only contains one .tar archive then it will have everything, pda+phone+csc, in the one file.

If it has multiple .tar archive then:
The .tar with modem in the name is the phone/baseband bit of the package
.tar with csc/multi-csc in the name is the CSC bit of the package
.tar with code/PDA/AP in the name is the PDA/AP part of the firmware package

    BL = Bootloader
    AP = PDA (CODE)
    CP = PHONE (MODEM)
    CSC = CSC

How to mount the root filesystem in twrp recovery?

$

Sorry for this perhaps dumb question and I’m sure it was answered anywhere but searching for "mount root recovery" lists everything to root the device. Last time I need to do this was on my HTC Desire with that S-ON 😉

Ok, but for the backgrounds:
I am running CM13 (rooted of cource) and I need to tweak /init.cm.rc startup script.
When doing this while running CM13 (/ filesystem mounted rw) any changes are gone after reboot.

So how can I do this?
My first thought was: Edit while in recovery. But in TWRP (3.0) the root filesystem isn’t mounted – so how can I mount it?
Or on which partition is it located?

Thanks in advance!

Nabi 2 NV7A, Corrupt TWRP?

Hello Everyone,

I have a Nabi 2 I bought back in 2013. I rooted it prior to the OTA updates, and have since lost root. I have been messing with it to try to flash a naked rom, but have been having several issues. Most newer tools don’t read the tablet, which I determined to be the result of permissions, which apparently changed over time. NabiLab (old) will read my tablet correct. However, I think my recovery or bootloader is bad. Nothing works, despite the tablet responding to adb commands from NabiLab. I can boot into the device, and even see recovery menu’s, but they do not appear to function.

I would really appreciate if someone can help me get a working TWRP back on the device. I’ve been working on it for 3 days with no luck.

Root and TWRP After 20i Update

Hi all, new to the G4 and had a quick question. The day i bought my G4 the MM update came out and updated overnight. Im looking to get root and TWRP on the 20i update and I’m having some difficulties finding a guide on how to accomplish this. I have read through autoprime’s guide on how to OEM unlock but I’m not positive that it applies to me in my situation. Can anyone verify that his method will work on a stock 20i ota rom? Thanks in advance!

I checked the log and there is large block of red text with this repeating statement "E:Invalid block device on ‘dev/block/mmcblk0p9" etc. This is for all partitions it would seem. I can use the disabler to return back to CM recovery using ADB sideload which works fine but I need TWRP to install the GAPPS package. Thank you for all your hard work though! I’ve used SlimLP for the i777 so that I might get away with the tiny system partition this device comes with! Anyways again, if this is the wrong place to ask please tell me. The reason I ask here is because I cannot tell if it’s an issue with TWRP being in the recovery partition or not. TWRP works fine when bundled with the kernel as with your own ROM but with IsoRec not so much. I’ve also reached out to Lanchon but have not received a response yet. We’ll see how this goes. Thanks for your time!

@LythicWyvern , It’s typically better to keep these discussions public, because there is a decent likelihood that someone else will have the same question.
What you’re describing sounds like what happens when the twrp.fstab file is not present in the root of the device. When I build Slim, it’s included in the slim.zip package, and is installed to the appropriate location when flashed. I have never used IsoRec, so I’m not sure how isorec treats the installation of twrp recovery. If we can get this straightened out here, I’ll certainly reach out to Lanchon to at least share our findings.

first things first though, I’ll grab my i777 during lunch, and check to see where the twrp.fstab is installed, and if you’re willing to test, then we can see if it’s present in the correct location after the isorec installation.
