Installing twrp with locked bootloader

I found a way to install twrp on my mi max with locked bootloader using EDL mode.
NB! This will reformat the phone so you should take a backup if you got something you want to keep on the phone.
NB! DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK!!!

To get into EDL mode I followed thi guide:
http://xiaomitips.com/guide/how-to-p…into-edl-mode/
I turned off the phone and pushed vol+ and connected the usb to the PC. Then I installed the qualcom drivers.

I downloaded a fastbootimage
http://bigota.d.miui.com/6.6.23/hydr…5ab5ac0aba.tgz
I also downladed twrp:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-m…overy-t3388073

I used 7zip to unpack fastbootimage.
Inside I found the folder with images and a recovery.img file. I renamed twrp file to recovery.img and replaced the one in images.

I then used miflasher and flashed the fastbootimage using clean option.

After flashing I diconnected the phone from pc and rebooted into recovery "power and vol+"
Now I had TWRP and could wipe and install ROMS etc.
I installed the ROM I found here
https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/6-6-23.32335/

This was a much better ROM than the china-rom

G3 Power Issue/Cannot access fastboot or install TWRP

Hello All,

Sprint LG G3 LS990 Here.

I am currently trying to flash TWRP onto my phone, and booting into the Operating system is not possible at this point. I have restored the phone back to factory using the ZV4 .tot file, but i cannot get it to stay powered on. The phone will stay powered on in download mode and recovery mode, but when i start to flash something via download mode, sometimes it will stay powered through the process, and sometimes it will just shut off. Also, when i power it on, sometimes it will boot to the yellow Sprint Spark screen, freeze, and then shut off. Other times, it will boot into the OS, then freeze and shut off before I can do anything. One time, it booted all the way to the OS, went through the activation, and then powered off. Once the power cuts off, i have to remove the battery and then it will power on again, but still never make it to the OS without shutting off. I can get the phone into download mode and stock recovery (The phone has never been rooted or flashed, it is bone stock). I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get TWRP flashed onto the phone with either download mode OR ADB commands via the stock recovery. I cannot figure out how to successfully format the LAF partition to access fastboot. Can anyone provide some assistance? Please help!

Wrong password after TWRP restore

Okay, can someone give me some help on this one? My password that I set no longer works after restoring via TWRP. I just flashed OPLite so I can have a pseudo-dual boot setup in case I want to have dash charge. Then I restored Bliss, and my unlock password no longer works. Any way I can get around that?

Edit: I just found something that suggests there might be no way around this…hoping I don’t have to start from scratch here.

This is really simple but I’m guessing people are still wondering.
  • Download TWRP
  • Download SuperSU
  • Put the SuperSU on your SD Card / Internal Storage
  • Reboot into Download Mode
  • Flash TWRP
  • Boot into TWRP
  • Flash SuperSU
  • Enjoy!

Thanks of course to Chainfire & Teamwin
Also Thanks to freeza.

Hey guys I really need your help!

Just got this HTC One M9 that was previously rooted with the "Viper" ROM. As the person gave it to me he wiped it clean leaving only "TWRP" on there. Anyways somewhere along the line I accidentally wipe the whole phone clean and now there is no TWRP… Selecting recovery mode comes up with "Failed to boot to recovery mode". And now my computer won’t even recognize it as a device. :crying: Guess I got what I paid for, 0.

Can someone please help urgently? Btw, I’m from Australia.
Cheers.

This is TWRP 3.0.x ported from official SM-J500 to SM-J510 using stock kernel (zImage) from SM-J510F.

UNDER TESTING – by @wowanbelousov

Disclaimer: Flashing this gon’ trip knox & you lose your (device’s) warranty.

  • Built from official SM-J500F recovery
  • Kernel & Device Tree from SM-J510F 6.0.1
  • Flash via ODIN & enjoy

TWRP: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24591000424943154

Note: As per my experiences, it is recommended to flash the Kernel, then recovery, then "FORMAT DATA" (not just wipe) to disable encryption. Otherwise, TWRP will not be able to mount /data.

I flashed this SuperSU in system-less mode & I was rooted with no (visible) issues. Anything else like backing up, I didn’t try.

Recommended Installation Flow:

  • Flash TWRP via ODIN
  • Reboot to Recovery (TWRP)
  • Wipe > Format Data > "yes"
  • Reboot to Recovery (TWRP)
  • Flash latest SuperSU zip (anything > 2.46)

Can’t boot into TWRP on Nexus 5X

Hi guys, having an issue loading into TWRP recovery on my Nexus 5X. I upgraded to 3.0.2 from 2.8.7 (I was having issues with storage not being mounted when trying to flash gapps, so a thread suggested upgrading TWRP).

I flashed the new TWRP with flashboot and it flashed fine, but when I rebooted into recovery it booted my into CM. I have tried a few methods to get it to boot but to no avail. I saw in another post to use fastboot and erase recovery before flashing, that didn’t work either. I even tried doing a method using Odin, but my phone won’t boot into that download mode either… it just continues straight to CM. Any suggestions? Thanks!
