Stuck in recovery after failed update via TWRP

$

Hello,
yesterday I bought a used oneplus one.

It was showing me a notification that I can do the incremental update 12.1-yog4pas2ql. So I tried it. But after the restart it booted into TWRP (2.8.5.1) recovery.

Then I tried to flash the update (cm-bacon-7be76f9310-to-49d90510ef-signed.zip) with TWRP. But, as I now know, I haven’t set in developer options the option not to update the recovery.

The result is that at startup it now boots automatically into to stock cyanogen recovery. When I try to "apply update" I don’t see my cm-bacon-7be76f9310-to-49d90510ef-signed.zip in the folder. I only can find a cm-12.1.zip which seems to be from the previous owner.

When I select "Reboot to bootloader" it shows "fastboot mode" and is stuck in that screen. I can’t do anything but to turn it off.

I have rooted a Moto G before and I know I can do it when I know what to do. I’m completely unsure: should I select "factory reset" in the stock cyanogen recovery? I just need a starting point. I don’t need TWRP anyway, maybe it’s best to get rid of it?

Help: CM 12.1 Nexus 5 stuck in bootloop and freezes on TWRP load screen

I’ve got quite a peculiar problem with my Nexus 5.

Last night, I left my phone on charge. It was working normally and the software was functional etc. However, once I woke up, the phone was constantly restarting itself, and wouldn’t load past the boot animation. I tried to load up fastboot to enter the TWRP recovery, however, the phone froze on the load screen. I should also add that my custom boot animation was replaced by the CyanogenMod mascot.

This problem has never occurred before, and I really haven’t got a clue how to fix it. I tried to use WugFresh’s NRT to flash a factory image of Android 6, however, the command terminal indicated that each process had failed. This did not restore the phone to its original condition.

I should also point out that I have been running a CM 12.1 nightly, which has been very stable and I have been using this nightly, without major problems (bar the infrequent system UI crashes) for a couple of months. It is obviously rooted and I have a Nandroid backup, which I can’t access for aforementioned reasons.

Please could you help me with resurrecting my phone? I would be happy to clarify and elaborate upon any point of information.

Kind regards,

Sami

Can’t find backup in TWRP

So, in an earlier post, i mentioned the problems caused by converting my SD card to internal storage. In trying to fix that, i ended up not being able to boot my device, so i went to restore a backup and realized that since TWRP doesn’t see the sdcard, i’m in some trouble. I have a stock image that i’m trying to restore to, but no matter where i put it on my phone, TWRP is not seeing it when i try to ‘restore’. I’ve put it in /TWRP/BACKUP and in /sdcard/TWRP/BACKUP (which isn’t really my actual SD card). neither shows in the selection list while in TWRP.

Where do i need to move this so i can restore the file? Again, i can’t select ‘MicroSDcard’ from TWRP. If there is a way to convert the card back to portable storage from recovery, i’m fine formatting it and doing that.

Team Win Recovery Project 2.x, or twrp2 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

Phone look:

Tablet look:

CHANGELOG for 2.8.7.0:
– Initial release with f2fs support!

DOWNLOAD:
For our kccat6 (Galaxy S5 Plus) we don’t have any official support, so I have my own mirrors, you can download the recovery from here:
Android Filehost Link. There are two version, one for flashing with your current recovery (the zip file) and one for flashing with odin. For odin select AP tab and add the twrp file, flash it on your phone using download mode.

If we ever get official support:

Most devices can be updated quickly and easily with the TWRP Manager app, but the S5 plus does not have official support! Here would be the app:
Play Store Link
1) Install TWRP Manager from the Play Store
2) Open TWRP Manager and provide root permissions
3) Hit Advanced->Install Recovery
4) Verify the correct device name on your screen then press Install Recovery if the correct device is showing
5) You can find more information and download links on our NEW website!

BUGS:
– Aroma installer is untested, please check if it is working or not!
– If you have found another bug, please consider posting it to our github issues log. It’s pretty much impossible for us to keep up with the more than 40 threads that we have for the devices that we "directly" support. If you have a significant problem that cannot be answered in this thread, your best bet is to PM me directly, contact us via our website, or find us in our IRC channel below. If you see someone that’s struggling, feel free to point it out to us. We need your help to help us keep track of all of our devices! Thanks!

TWRP Error flashing Zip on Android 6.0

So I’ve been trying to install V4A and xPosed on my rooted Nexus 6 but everytime I flash anything in TWRP, I get the "Error flashing zip" message. It’s really pissing me off, especially V4A because it seems as if everytime there’s a new Android version, Viper gets more and more complicated to install and the various methods are all guess work as to which one will actually work. Now, I can’t even get Twrp to install anything. I installed TWRP through the app after I tried doing it through adb. Does anyone know wtf is going on with my recovery? Here’s an image of what I’m talking about.

Back to the TWRP 2.8.4 bootloop problem..

$

Ouch… went to install new 12/13 via TWRP and here is the new problem. I copied over the twrp image from this thread posted as 2.8.3-12-23-14.zip. When I have this TWRP image in the /boot partition I can boot into TWRP but if I try to install the 12/13 build it can not load the data and cache partitions and errors out. Is this supporting F2FS? Anyway, I rebooted the 12/09 build and extracted the previous TWRP image I had been using, the 2.8.4.0 with F2FS support and copied it to the /boot partition. Now I am back to the original problem of TWRP being in a boot loop and stuck at the Teamwin screen. If I go back to the 2.8.3, it works, only I can not install the 12/13 zip as I get the errors on the /data and /cache partitions. Back to the 2.8.4… and boot loop… Any ideas on how to fix this… Thanks, Rick

This is an unofficial port of TWRP for Samsung Galaxy Pocket Plus. The original work code is done by @Alonso1398 but since he abandoned his updates for our device I’m carrying this project from now on

About
TWRP is an open source, community project that was originally formed to work on porting WiMAX to CM7 for the HTC EVO 4G. After their work on the EVO 4G they wanted to work on a project that would work on more devices than just the EVO 4G and they settled on working on a recovery. Today TWRP is the leading custom recovery for Android phones.

A custom recovery is used for installing custom software on your device. This custom software can include smaller modifications like rooting your device or even replacing the firmware of the device with a completely custom “ROM” like OmniROM

Didn’t see this posted anywhere so I thought I’d share. It is possible to take screenshots in TWRP by using the button combo (hold power + vol down). I don’t know if it’s a recovery or OS thing but I noticed this on both lollipop and marshmallow. I’m using TWRP 2.8.7.1

Touchscreen problem after upgrading to latest TWRP 2870

$
0
0

I had been running rooted rom (Darth Stalked) 5.0.1, COD6… for months, no problems. I had TWRP 2.8.4.0 installed… So today I downloaded TWRP 2870 from the official web site, and ACCIDENTALLY installed the one for NOTE 4 EDGE (and I have a regular NOTE 4 SM-910T)

So afterwards I realized all the margins for the touchscreen were off, I would have to touch a little HIGHER UP on the screen to hit the button

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9

as an example, think of having to press between the 3 and 6 to actually press 9.

Well, the stylus (s-pen) still seemed to work, so I was able to correctly navigate back to twrp site, download 2870 for note 4 t-mobile (the one I needed). but the touchscreen is still messed up (still not touching where I touch with my finger, but the s-pen works and does hit where it touhces)

I restored a nandroid backup, no change
I factory reset, no change
I reflashed twrp 2840, no change
I reflashed twrp 2870, no change
I wiped cache and dalvik, no change

So, trying to press my finger on the touchscreen registers too high or innaccurate, but the s-pen seems to work. THIS ALL STARTED AFTER I MISTAKENLY INSTALLED THE NOTE 4 EDGE TWRP 2870 and I can’t figure out how to UNDO whatever it did.

I am still on COD6, have TWRP 2870 installed, I reverted back to an older nandroid I made with TWRP from about 4-5 months ago, but the touchscreen is still not accurately activating where I press with my finger… PLEASE HELP ME.
