Rooting and installing twrp on the ls 990

I have a couple questions and need some feedback. I have a LS990 from sprint. My old G3
3 was destroyed and so I am now in the waiting phase to receive my new G3. I rooted and installed TWRP when I first received my G3 (one time) but its been well over a year. When I get my new G3, I would like to install TWRP and have it rooted like my last one. I just want to confirm from what I read in the OP, one of the methods will root and install bumped twrp at the same time? I’m not sure when I receive my new phone whether it will have lollipop 5.0 or 5.1, does that make a difference? If it does install twrp, will it be the latest version? Thanks again for the feedback, I would like to be ready to get this done when my phone arrives.

This is the link I found, would this method work in rooting and installing twrp?

TWRP boot loop on MM Update. Ideas?

I’m on Verizon and have an unlocked bootloader (still unrooted) with TWRP as my recovery. I received the OTA notification earlier and kicked off the update, but all my phone is doing is showing the TWRP splash screen (TeamWin), then flashing black, then back to the TeamWin, then black.

Any thoughts on what i should be doing? I don’t know why it is even entering recovery.

TWRP recover unresponsive after OTA update

I’m running Optimized CyanogenMod 12.1 rom from the Jflte DevConnection Team.

After trying to flash the last OTA update for the rom my TWRP recovery has become unresponsive, stuck on its boot screen (TWRP logo).

What happen was that I downloaded the update via the OTA app and then pressed the Install button to reboot the device and flash the update.

But after the device booted into the recovery TWRP never opened up a process window or its menu but just stayed on the boot screen appearing to do nothing. It did not respond to any commands (buttons or touch). I waited half an hour before forcing a shot down.

But at this point I was in a manual boot loop, the device would boot into recovery instead of the Rom and I was unable to use the phone.

I managed to flash TWRP again using Heimdall which allowed me to boot again into the Rom, but if I tried manually going into recovery it was still unresponsive.

I tried flashing older version of TWRP using Flashy app, I clicked on a option in the app to reboot into recovery. This cost the origin boot loop problem again.

I than flashed CyanogenMod Recovery and was able to boot into that.

Tried once more to flash TWRP but the problem persists.

Anybody that could know what is going on or how to fix this issue. I’m hoping not to have to format the phone to Stock to fix this.

If I boot into recovery , twrp can’t see the mounted space on the sdcard. So I can’t make a full backup of the rom. Ther’s only a piece of 15 mb that is not mounted on the card… (see screenshot) Is there a solution for ?

Can’t Flash TWRP

Hello. I am on 6.0.1 MMB29M trying to flash TWRP. I get this error message while doing this.

c:\angler>fastboot flash bootloader twrp-2.8.7.2-angler.img
target reported max download size of 494927872 bytes
sending ‘bootloader’ (16880 KB)…
OKAY [ 0.392s]
writing ‘bootloader’…
FAILED (remote: partition table doesn’t exist)
finished. total time: 0.414s

Bootloader is unlocked as well as debugging. I have followed a lot of different guides but can’t get passed this error. I had TWRP working on MDB08K but the camera was not working for some strange reason. If anyone can help me get TWRP on MMB29M, that would be great. 😀

TWRP install fail. “flashing not allowed for locked HW”

First and foremost let me state my intent to see if that’s even possible. I’m looking to install a fresh android OS completely free of Amazon’s existing OS. Something like Cyanogen would be ideal but any "UnAmazoned" version of android will do.

I’m pretty sure I have the 8 gb 4th generation Kindle Fire HD 6 (Amazon logo on the back, power button on top, volume on the left side).

I have rooted using Kingroot and confirmed root using root checker. I have JMZ Fire HD 7 tools installed to disable ADs, OTAs and the Amazon launcher.

I tried running the TWRP manager but it couldn’t install TWRP so I decided to do it manually. "ADB DEVICES" returns with a device number so I know the HD 6 is being recognized. I’m installing TWRP using the instructions found on their website.

The instruction say to download the correct file image from the link they provide which I think means to download the latest one?

When I try to run the "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" command I get the following in my CMD prompt:

Code:

target reported max download size of 52429824 bytes
sending 'recovery' (5568 KB)...
OKAY [  0.220s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: flashing not allowed for locked hw)
finished. total time: 0.260s

Does anyone have any idea what I’m doing wrong?

Can anyone confirm that OTG works with TWRP? As in I can install from OTG flash drives like the Kingston MicroDuo 3C or SanDisk OTG Dual USB 3.0 all while still remaining encrypted?

Please help – V50020d can’t install custom roms via TWRP – binary updater error

All,

I was very excited to get a V500 this week and it arrived with V50020f on it. I was able to root it with ioroot, install supersu from the Play store, and then use flashify to install TWRP 2.8.7.1 on it. Every time I try to install a custom rom, however, I get a a script error. I’ve reflashed TWRP, no help, I used Flash tool to go down to 20A and then ended up in the same place, tried installing the V20D bootloader via zip but that didn’t help, and I’m just lost. I presume it is an issue with my TWRP maybe not liking something in the build.prop or something, but again I’m lost so I just don’t know. I do get a secure boot error at the moment, but also a boot success and it loads the stock rom, but I got this to go to 5.1.1 and likely 6.x, so I’d REALLY REALLY appreciate any help on pointing me to the KDZ, TWRP, or other files I need to get this to take.

Thanks so much!!

Flashed kernel on Nexus 7 now TWRP asking for password I never set

$

I had Pure Nexus running on my Flo with no issues and decided I wanted to flash another kernel (glitched kernel to be exact). I went through the update script and flashed the kernel and noticed that once I hit reboot my device just went black. No Google splash screen like when normally rebooting or anything. After letting it sit for a while I rebooted back into the bootloader and from there I went into TWRP which is now asking me for a password that I never set. Since I haven’t set a password I am forced to hit cancel which from there will not let me mount any partition to recover my device. Now This would normally be no issue since I can always Fastboot erase and flash a new recovery or factory image. But I got the device already unlocked from my friend and never had the need to hook it up to my computer. Which means I can’t get my Windows 10 computer to get any adb/fastboot connectivity. I downloaded the SDK and installed Google USB Drivers from there but that didn’t help me gain adb/fastboot connectivity in the bootloader. When I go my device manager in Windows it just lists the device as "Android!". Does anybody know either a way to disable this password so I can mount my partitions or a way for me to somehow gain adb connectivity in the bootloader without being able to turn on my Nexus 7? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have exhausted any ideas I can come up with myself.

TWRP Experiments Thread

I am creating this thread as a means to share some of my mods/hacks of TWRP with you all.

The first of this series(I hope….) is a F2FS Compatible TWRP 2.8.0.0 distribution :

1. Full TWRP 2.8.0.0 feature set with F2FS now supported. You will need a compatible kernel to use it and remember, it will NEVER be able to change the FS on your NAND memory.

2. NAND is pretty much everything other than your sd-ext, which can be wiped safely.

Download Link : Basketbuild

This will require ramdisk hacks on both the kernel and the recovery to wipe system and data. I have not included the required hacks in this edition because of some time issues but they will definitely be included on a future edition of this mod.

Next up : Fully functional F2FS setup….
