How To Restore TWRP 3.0.0-2 Backup

$

Hi everyone,

Specs:

  • HTC M9 T-Mobile (Running Marshmallow 6)
  • unlocked (htcdev)
  • Rooted (superSU installed via TWRP)

Tried installing ARHD 20 ROM but was not successful. After all applications get optimized, I see the htc logo on white but I do have the volume up and and down keys working as if the OS is loaded but sense is not working correctly. If I hit the power button I also have the power off and reboot option.

Anyways I want o roll back to my TWRP backup. When I goto restore and pick my backup, TWRP says:
Cannot restore System — mounted read only
I understand that the new TWRP by default asked me whether to mount in read only or read/write.

So in order to restore my backup, do I have to go into Mount/ and uncheck "Mount system partition read-only"

What impact will doing that have on my ability to restore to stock in the future?

Need help can’t wipe device with twrp or cwm error E: Can’t mount ‘/Preload’

I was trying to flash a new ROM so i tried to wipe data and cache and delvik cache but each time i try to wipe the phone i says E:Can’t mount ‘/preload’
but i didn’t notice the error and installed custom ROM anyway.and now i am stuck at boot screen. :(
i can still access TWRP manager and download mode but still can’t mount ‘/preload’. I have searched a lot online but no satisfactory thread found.
Detailed help on this topic will be much appreciated.:good:

TWRP 3.0.0-1 broke custom roms?

$

Copy & paste from the TWRP thread:

I have a weird issue and need some serious help. I flashed TWRP 3.0.0.1 last night via ODIN and my ROM wouldn’t boot anymore. It gets to the boot animation screen then goes on forever. I tried fixing it by going to the TWRP version I was using before but I still faced the same issue and tried 3.0.0.0 as well and it still happens.

I am actually using a T-Mobile Marshmallow ROM and did the adoptable storage feature so that’s what I’m assuming caused the issues since I couldn’t unmount it before the problem popped up so I reformatted with it still in the system. Using a TMO rom with the ATT recovery worked previously so I don’t think that’s the problem. I also tried the CAN recovery and the TMO recovery and nope.

I also full factory wipe + wiping system + data + cache but didn’t fix it as well. Some roms work like DN4 but I would rather go back to the rom I was using previously.

Anyone know what’s up and how to fix this problem?

I updated my (stock/rooted) nexus 6p to mmb29v today. Problem is, TWRP (3.0) won’t stick:(

From fastboot, I can use fastboot recovery (twrp.img), then click volume down twitce to load twrp..

But if I reboot, then try to boot into recovery, I get the green android…

Anyone else experiencing this?

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

CHANGELOG for 3.0.0-0:

-Completely new theme – Much more modern and much nicer looking (by z31s1g)
-True Terminal Emulator – Includes arrow keys, tab and tab completion, etc. (by _that)
-Language translation – It won’t be perfect and especially some languages that require large font files like Chinese & Japanese won’t be availble on most devices. Also some languages may only be partially translated at this time. Feel free to submit more translations to OmniROM’s Gerrit. (mostly by Dees_Troy)
-Flashing of sparse images – On select devices you will be able to flash some parts of factory images via the TWRP GUI (by HashBang173)
-Adopted storage support for select devices – TWRP can now decrypt adopted storage partitions from Marshmallow
-Reworked graphics to bring us more up to date with AOSP – includes support for adf and drm graphics (by Dees_Troy)
-SuperSU prompt will no longer display if a Marshmallow ROM is installed
-Update exfat, exfat fuse, dosfstools (by mdmower)
-Update AOSP base to 6.0
-A huge laundry list of other minor fixes and tweaks

WARNING: This is our first release in a long time. We have a lot of new and somewhat aggressive changes in this new release. The changes to the graphics back-end may cause some devices to not boot up properly or have other display-related issues. If you are not in a position to reflash an older build of TWRP, then wait until you are or at least wait until others have tried the new version for your specific device. You don’t want to end up with a non-working recovery and have to wait several hours or days to get to a computer to be able to fix it.

Notes for themers: In addition to the udpated theme, we have introduced a theme version variable to the TWRP theme system. If the theme version does not match the version that TWRP expects, TWRP will reject the custom theme and load its stock theme. This change will ensure that people who update TWRP without updating their theme will still have a workable recovery. We have removed libjpeg support. The stock theme was only using a jpeg image for the splash / curtain. This change means that any custom themes will no longer be able to use jpeg images. It also means that tools used to repack recovery images with a different curtain / splash will need to be updated to use the new method.

Version number notes: For a while we’ve been using a 4 digit version number and reserved the 4th digit for device-specific updates. For instance, we find and fix a device-specific issue like decryption of data on Nexus 5, we would release that as a 2.8.7.1. After a while, some people would start asking where 2.8.7.1 was for other devices. So, going forward we have decided to change the numbering scheme to 3.0.0-2, etc. Our hope is that this version numbering scheme will more clearly identify that the 4th digit does not indicate a version change for the code base.

We need your help! The bulk of TWRP work is done by 3 people on a volunteer basis. We have pushed most of our device files to our github and we have a gerrit instance. If you have the ability, please help us maintain our official devices and/or add your device to our official device list. Thanks in advance!

DOWNLOAD:
Most devices can be updated quickly and easily within TWRP if you already have version 2.8.4.0 or higher installed
1) Download the latest version down below
2) Reboot to your current recovery or flash the recovery.img with dd on your recovery partition
3) Flash the provided archive

TWRP 3.0.0.0 for the v410 working with adoptable storage support?

$
0
0

Hey guys and gals.

Been playing with my new v410 and wanting to run adoptable storage.

Fully rooted and funning cm13. I have enabled the adoptable storage option with a 64gb sd card and when the tablet is on it works perfectly. Problems come when in TWRP. i know 2.8.5.0 does not have support for adoptable but 2.8.7.0 seems to work…at least kind of when it wants.

I have tried a port of 3.0.0.0 but it does not work well at all and locks up when trying to access the SD while its Adopted. Anyone know if there is a port that is currently working? I’m sure it would help a few people on here.

TWRP Recovery on Note 3 Neo N7505

$

Hi all!
I have a Note 3 neo SM N7505 rooted with stock ROM (Android 4.4.2) and I want to install TWRP recovery in it to do a backup before upgrading to Lollypop. I have tried to do it with the app and throw Odin without success (phone bricked). I think the problem is the position of the RECOVERY link inside the directory tree: in my phone is on: /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc.0/by-name/RECOVERY, it points to /dev/block/mmcblk0p10.
The question is: can I install the last TWRP recovery invoking this command without doing any damage?

dd if=/position/of/recovery.img of=/dev/block/platform/dw_mmc.0/by-name/RECOVERY

Thanks :)

[TWRP 3.0] Difference between restoring /system, and restoring system image?

$

Hello, I have a Nexus 6P, running TWRP 3.0.0, and was wondering what the difference between restoring the system parition and restoring the system image were, given I thought that the system partition was the place that you would flash the system image.

Thanks.

Meizu MX2 TWRP recovery through UART adapter

$

Here are UART-TTL pins for MX2 HK and CN versions. You’ll need UART adapter to flash custom recovery.
You’ll need 32 bit OS real or virtual. Special drivers and application to flash system partitions. Drivers are 32bit only!

I used 2 needles to connect to those pins and cp2102 UART adapter. Do not solder, you’ll damge the pins.
So the sequence is as follows:
Power the phone off (better use battery connector to power off)
Connect adapter’s RXD to the phone’s TXD (RXD <—> TXD)
Connect adapter’s TXD to the phone’s RXD (TXD <—> RXD)
Connect GND to any metal cover of the phone or to its metal border.
Now connect battery back and power the phone on with power button and you’ll see booting log in putty’s terminal. To stop booting press Ctrl+C right after vibro and now you’re in UART console.
Type "insdroid recovery" without quotes. The command turnes the phone into the recovery restoration mode. Remove your UART adapter now and connect the phone using usb wire. Install new driver. And flash recovery-uboot.img just throwing it with mouse on applications exe or use windows cmd.
Sample putty output
