after flashing H2OS no longer boots in twrp

Hello

So H2OS boots up just fine. Fastboot mode works. When I boot into recovery mode the oneplus logo shows up, but it is as nothing happens afterwards. I left the device there for more than an hour and still nothing. Flashing from the OS twrp 2.8.7.0 or 3.0.0-2 has no change on this. Flashing from fastboot the same. When I try to boot from fastboot,I get the following error:

bernat@g22 ~/Downloads $ fastboot boot twrp-3.0.0-2-oneplus2.img

Any ideas?

[Rootable Kernel/ TWRP 3 – E6853 Marshsmellow ] [32.1.A.1.163] AU]

Okay here we go,

Marvelous Super-Huge Thanks to
@AndroPlus for his kernel source
and helping me out with the kernel.elf situation.

@KbaB.BroS for testing and confirming.

The boot.img uses the bootrec setup.
Flash via fastboot
fastboot flash boot E6853_MM_ROOTABLE_PERMISSIVE_boot.img

Note: You DO NOT NEED TO ROOT YOUR DEVICE to perform root operations via adb shell !
just plug in open a terminal on pc and run
adb root
adb remount
adb shell

Use @Chainfire ‘s http://forum.xda-developers.com/show….php?t=1538053, this version will apply root to the boot.img (system-less root).

I have not activated my phone so i will need some confirmation as to the correct function
of communications.

There are no additional modifications to the kernel other than what androplus has already
introduced to his kernel sources.

E6853_MM_ROOTABLE_PERMISSIVE_boot.img

TWRP 3 has an issue with no adb access, i’ll figure that out when I do.
I am fairly certain it is in one of the init.*.rc files

I recommend users of AndroPlus ‘s twrp build to remain with that build unless there is an issue.
I mainly wanted twrp 3 because of the improved terminal. =)

Flash via fastboot
fastboot flash recovery E68XX_TWRP3_recovery.img

E68XX_TWRP3_recovery.img

I do not intend to continue any additional projects on this front as I am trying to get a build of cm13 working.
I am not taking any requests, outside of attempting to fix anything goofy/wrong in this kernel build.
I have attached my kernel defconfig for the E6853

I am working off of the MM AU firmware release E6853_32.1.A.1.163_1299-1469_R3C.ftf

Can’t Flash TWRP “Signature Verify Fail”

This is an ATT version phone I rooted this phone a couple of days ago with TWRP. However, I had to use adb to enter fastboot as it would not go to fastboot using power/volume keys. Actually, it never shows a fastboot screen, even in adb, so it may have been going into fastboot all along and I just could not see it.

So, instead of leaving well enough alone, I RUU’ed (newest ATT version from HTC site) it to try to get fastboot to work normally (it still works, I just can’t see it on screen). Now, I can’t get rooted again. FWIW, I did make a backup with TWRP before RUU’ed. Regardless, there is nothing on this phone I need to keep, I just want to root it before I start using it.

Any help is greatly appreciated…

Here is my unlock sequence. Note what happens if I try to flash TWRP immediately after unlock. I have to CTRL C and Reboot phone.

TWRP is not taking my encryption password! What am I missing?

Hey guys! I’ve having some trouble getting my device set up with root and encryption, while ending with a locked bootloader. I hope I can find some help.

Here is the procedure I tried:
Unlocked the bootloader
Did a full restore to MHC19I through fastboot
Flashed this boot.img
( This is so I can encrypt the user data partition after getting into Android, and it also allows a system-root without getting a boot loop )
Flashed the twrp-3.0.0-1-angler.img recovery
Locked the bootloader
Booted into TWRP without ever going into Android yet
Sideloaded BETA-SuperSU-v2.68-20160228150503.zip
Booted into Android and setup with my Google account, I used a fingerprint and set a PIN, and selected "PIN required on startup"
Update all the stock apps, with some reboots in between
Then encrypted the phone through security settings

Now here is where I’m having trouble.
When I boot into TWRP after having encrypted the user data partition, it asks for my password, as it should, but it won’t take my PIN. It tells me "Password failed, please try again" and "Failed to decrypt data." Is the password prompt not asking for the PIN I set? Does TWRP only support decryption with a password, or something? Can I not use a fingerprint to lock the device? What am I missing here?

Is there perhaps another procedure to getting Android setup with TWRP, root, and user data encryption while ending with a locked bootloader?

Thank you in advance for all your help!

Cannot install custom Roms with TWRP 3.0 Error 7

Hello.
I updated TWRP from 2.8.7.0 to 3.0
But when I try to flash a custom Rom, I get error 7, telling me that flashing failed. I tried 2 different CM Roms and were using MIUI before. Backup and Restore files work. Someone knows what’s wrong or how to fix it?

Does the Rootable Kernel/ TWRP 3 – E6683 by Moonbutt74 work with Locked BL?

[RECOVERY][heroqlte] TWRP 3.0.0-0 touch recovery [2016-03-12]

Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

CHANGELOGS :

CHANGELOG for 3.0.0-0:

-Completely new theme – Much more modern and much nicer looking (by z31s1g)
-True Terminal Emulator – Includes arrow keys, tab and tab completion, etc. (by _that)
-Language translation – It won’t be perfect and especially some languages that require large font files like Chinese & Japanese won’t be availble on most devices. Also some languages may only be partially translated at this time. Feel free to submit more translations to OmniROM’s Gerrit. (mostly by Dees_Troy)
-Flashing of sparse images – On select devices you will be able to flash some parts of factory images via the TWRP GUI (by HashBang173)
-Adopted storage support for select devices – TWRP can now decrypt adopted storage partitions from Marshmallow
-Reworked graphics to bring us more up to date with AOSP – includes support for adf and drm graphics (by Dees_Troy)
-SuperSU prompt will no longer display if a Marshmallow ROM is installed
-Update exfat, exfat fuse, dosfstools (by mdmower)
-Update AOSP base to 6.0
-A huge laundry list of other minor fixes and tweaks

WARNING: This is our first release in a long time. We have a lot of new and somewhat aggressive changes in this new release. The changes to the graphics back-end may cause some devices to not boot up properly or have other display-related issues. If you are not in a position to reflash an older build of TWRP, then wait until you are or at least wait until others have tried the new version for your specific device. You don’t want to end up with a non-working recovery and have to wait several hours or days to get to a computer to be able to fix it.

Notes for themers: In addition to the udpated theme, we have introduced a theme version variable to the TWRP theme system. If the theme version does not match the version that TWRP expects, TWRP will reject the custom theme and load its stock theme. This change will ensure that people who update TWRP without updating their theme will still have a workable recovery. We have removed libjpeg support. The stock theme was only using a jpeg image for the splash / curtain. This change means that any custom themes will no longer be able to use jpeg images. It also means that tools used to repack recovery images with a different curtain / splash will need to be updated to use the new method.

Version number notes: For a while we’ve been using a 4 digit version number and reserved the 4th digit for device-specific updates. For instance, we find and fix a device-specific issue like decryption of data on Nexus 5, we would release that as a 2.8.7.1. After a while, some people would start asking where 2.8.7.1 was for other devices. So, going forward we have decided to change the numbering scheme to 3.0.0-2, etc. Our hope is that this version numbering scheme will more clearly identify that the 4th digit does not indicate a version change for the code base.

We need your help! The bulk of TWRP work is done by 3 people on a volunteer basis. We have pushed most of our device files to our github and we have a gerrit instance. If you have the ability, please help us maintain our official devices and/or add your device to our official device list. Thanks in advance!

CHANGELOG for 2.8.7.0:

-Initial ground work for software drawn keyboard (_that)
-Fix handling of wiping internal storage on datamedia devices (xuefer)
-Allow DataManager to set and read values from the system properties (xuefer)
-Fix crash when taking screenshots on arm64 devices (xuefer)
-Fix error message after an ORS script completes (Dees_Troy)
-Fix crashes / error when creating encrypted backups (_that, Dees_Troy)
-Add system read only option – more details below (Dees_Troy)
-Add resize2fs and GUI option to run resize2fs (Dees_Troy)
-Fix crash loop caused by empty lines in AOSP recovery command file (_that)
-Prevent duplicate page overlays such as multiple lock screens (mdmower)

Note: As always, be sure your custom theme is up to date (or remove your custom theme) before updating TWRP.

System read only option: Devices that ship with 5.0 and higher as their initial OS are using block level OTA updates. With this style of OTA update, the update script checks to see if the system partition has ever been mounted read/write. Further, the script also usually runs an SHA sum of the entire system partition to detect if any changes have been made. If any changes have been made, the OTA update will refuse to install. Since not all OEMs and devices have factory images available, we have created a new feature in TWRP that detects if the system partition has ever been mounted read/write. If not, you will be prompted asking if you want TWRP to mount system as read/write. If you choose not to allow TWRP to mount as read/write, TWRP won’t prompt to install SuperSU and TWRP won’t try to patch the stock ROM to prevent TWRP from being replaced by stock recovery. The goal of this option is to hopefully allow the user to make a raw system image backup that they can use to get back to a state where they can take OTA updates again.

resize2fs feature: On some devices like the Nexus 6, the factory images include a userdata image that is the proper size only for the 32GB units. If you flash the factory image to a 64GB Nexus 6, the data partition will appear as if it only has the free space of a 32GB device. Using the resize2fs option, TWRP can resize your data partition to take up the full space available. The resize2fs may also be useful to resize system partitions on devices where custom ROM system images don’t take up the full partition space. Lastly, resize2fs may be useful in some cases to reserve the proper space at the end of a data partition for a full disk encryption key, should your partition be formatted incorrectly for some reason.

This new version also marks our first set of full builds using our new jenkins build server. You can track the progress of builds at https://jenkins.twrp.me and we have taken additional steps to make it easier for device maintainers to step up and submit patches to our gerrit server at https://gerrit.twrp.me to help us keep devices up to date and working.

[Q] OnePlus One TWRP updatable OTA Roms

I found a Rom that was called cm-21.1-YOG4PAS3JL-Rooted-Twrpable.zip that updated me to 5.1.1. So, I keep getting asked to run a system update when the name suggest some update earlier than mine. Wish I could stop those annoying request to update. Anyway, where do I go to get the latest update that is for Rooted and TWRP users.

Updating after installing TWRP

Does anyone have a suggestion of the easiest way to update android to the latest March security update after installing TWRP and rooting with xceede’s kernel as per oRAirwolf’s guide?

I see there is an updated version of the kernel available but cannot work out how to update android system without OTA or custom ROMs.

Many thanks, sorry for my ignorance.

TWRP problems

I read through just about every post. I can’t get TWRP to stick. I just received this phone two days ago and I’m starting not to like it. I have system images and everything from Motorola. I want to start everything from scratch. It seems like nothing is working. This is really annoying. I’m coming from using Galaxy phones so this is a bit different. I wanted to ditch touchwiz.

No OS Installed While Flashing Android N OTA In TWRP

So yeah I accidentally wiped my partitions as if I were installing a rom. Am I screwed until I get to a pc?

P.s. Out of all days to delete my backup rom file 😔

TWRP should be here, if it doesn’t work then we have a problem…

[Q] N910G won’t boot after TWRP restore?

Hi All,

Just wondering what’s going on with my phone – it’s a Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910G with Optus Australia.
Here’s the situation:

I rooted my phone using Chainfire method from 5.1.1 Optus firmware.
Then, I installed TWRP, backed up all partitions (INCLUDING EFS).
After that, installed Cyanogenmod. Holy damn, I need to go back to stock…

so…

I booted back into TWRP
I reset phone as usually would to restore/install ROM.
I restored firmware backup in TWRP.
Reboot to system

— BOOTLOOP —

happens every time i try to restore, and the only way I can use my phone right now is to reflash Cyanogenmod 12.1 nightlies onto it – which have problems (such as I cannot reboot with CM12.1 because if I do after installing it, the phone app breaks and I cannot get past anything because of toast message "com.android.phone" has stopped…, so then only way to get it to work again is to reflash CM12.1 again – this happens about twice daily…)

— — PLEASE HELP!
What happens to TWRP backups that mean i cannot restore my stock backup without it bootlooping? and why can devs not post a clean stock flashable ZIP copy of stock firmwares? Its great having all these mods, but how about something that doesn’t require umpteen thousand bloody applications to reflash your phone with? Whatever happened to a simple ZIP? when I see ZIPs, devs see thanks buttons being pushed!

— THANKS Image may be NSFW.

Tried rooting my SSG S5-SM900F, TWRP screen doesn’t come up, going to need some help

Hey guys, I flashed my previous s3 and now i tried flashing my s5 sm-900F.

So I installed Odin 3.10.7 and I’ve tried installing multiple TWRP versions(2.8.4, 2.8.5, 3.0) and it passes and successfully installs.
I continue to toggle my phone off and press volume up, home and power button to enter the supposed TWRP menu and it doesn’t load, just gives something like "No task".
I didn’t install the previously named versions after one another i went through the process of repeating each step with different versions to see if that made a difference but sadly it didn’t.
The phone still works and after it gives no task I can still normally boot the phone, it’s just not rooted.

How do I proceed from here, since my phone just remains unrooted given I can’t install the superSU?

Thank you in advance,

Jonkoetje
