System R/O? (in TWRP backup)

I’ve not noticed it before but using a new recovery for MM and in TWRP backup, there is now the option to select a System R/O partition.
Its not selected by default and I’m sure its not the same as the ‘normal’ system partition.

Do I need to select this for a full nandroid? Its 3.x Gb so its not small. Or is it something I should never be touching no matter how I flash?

Cant Mount SD card in twrp

I successfully rooted and unlocked my verizon note 4 but for some reason my twrp 3.0.2 will not mount my sd card!
I already tried doing this fix mentioned here

maybe i didnt perform the fix correctly?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Connect the mobile with pc through USB cable

Extract naeem210.rar and open extracted folder

Extract adb rar

Keep pressing shift key and right click and select open command window

Type adb reboot bootloader
After it Reboots
Type fastboot oem unlock
press valume up confirm

NOW THE BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED

DONT POWER ON MOBILE

Completely switch off the mobile press 10 second power key
open SP tool
Select Scatter file and select only USERDATA
Untick recovery img
open dowonload agent and select DA_PL.bin
Select Download option and hit start
then connect ur mobile via usb cable and wait for the process to finish
Dont power on mobile

How to install twrp

open SP tool
Select Scatter file and select only Recovery IMG
UNTICK USERDATA
open dowonload agent and select DA_PL.bin
Select Download option and hit start
then connect ur mobile via usb cable and wait for the process to finish

remove usb cable
power on mobile

TWRP with Marshmellow on SM_G290T. Cant access or run TWRP.

HI.

I recently bought a S6 SM-g290T to replace the edge that just broke. I got it form Ebay, and it already had the marshmallow update on it.

Ive tried three ways to Sunday, but i cant get TWRP to stick and work on the phone.

I can root the phone with CF auto root, which is better then nothing, but I would like to get a less bloated ROM running on the phone.

Heres 2hat I tried (TWRP 2.8 – 3.0 ive tried)
[1] Fresh install of latest firmware [EPD1]. Install CF auto root, try to flash TWRP though ODIN. Any attempt into recovery shows recovery not seandroid enforced and just sits there at boot /logo screen.
[2] TWRP install, cf auto root, then same thing – stuck
[3] Firmware flash, twrp , then cf-auto root. 0- stuck

**I’ve also tried booting right into TWRP after the flash as some posts have suggested, saying it gets wiped out and you have to go right in after the odin flash.

Good news is i can get into my stock rom which is rooted.

Any help is much appreciated. My s6 Edge was on 5.11 and i had no problems getting TWRP and cf auto root to play nice and work. Then I’d flash Sick as hell and was a happy user!

Can I down grade my firmware from 6 to 5..11? Would this make it easier.

I don’t care if i lose marshmallow over the deal. I just need TWRP and root for my phone.

Bootloader unlocked, can’t flash TWRP recovery

I’ve managed to unlock the bootloader on a friend’s Zenfone 2 (Z00A); or, at least, I believe I have, because the boot splash screen has the inverted colors that most threads on BL unlocking mention. I used this method, inside a Windows XP VM.

The thing is, I can’t flash TWRP. If I try, it tells me permission was denied.

[ROM] Help: Mi Pad 2 Bricked, Sdcard undetected, unable to Flash w/ twrp or adb

Hello Guys,

I am desperate for some professional advice:

So I managed to brick my new Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 and make a huge mess along the way.

Currently it is in a bootloop with Custom Recovery installed (twrp 3.0). It all started after I flashed the China developer rom in sake of rooting, and failed to install or flash Gapps. So decided to flash back the stock Miui V7.2.1.0.KXFMIDA_20160129.0000.14_4.4 (Global) from twrp, hoping I would still have the custom recovery after flashing so I could re-root on the stock rom.

Then Bootloop started. So I just started trying everything I could, inc. flashing system.img and boot.img and stock recovery image seperately hoping I could somehow restore to factory settings. When all else failed I tried wiping and formatting everything using fastboot adb shell, hoping to flash the rom with adb after or sideload adb. Now I can’t flash anything.

When I try to flash a zip using the fastboot adb shell: fastboot flash update update.zip or fastboot flash boot update.zip (I named the stock rom update.zip), i get errors and it fails.

When I try to reformat/wipe Microsd card and/or repair it with twrp, nothing works. I pasted the log below.
Nothing works. I hope I can recover the system from this mess. All I wanted was a stable global rom with root access and was too impatient to wait for Xiaomi to approve my oem unlock request.

honor 5X update freeze/loop – no TWRP recovery possible

Hello everybody,

since saturday I have a really big problem. Until now I tried to find a similar problem from an other person in the internet in order to fix mine but that was not possible.
So in my last hope I am now writing it down here. Hopefully someone can help me:

The phone was/is rooted and has TWRP as recovery installed (v3.21). The software is still the original EMUI.
On saturday my Huawei Honor 5x (Model KIW-L21) gave me the notification that there is an software update avaible. So I backuped everything with TWRP to my sd-card and copied it to the computer. After this I ran th eupdate. The update downloaded the new software, then rebootet to the recovery, installed the update.zip automaticly and rebootet again. Then there was written on the screen "Huawei software installing … DO NOT unplug usb or press any key!". Also there was "0%" all the time. It did nothing. also the phone was not connected with usb.

After an hour I long pressed the power button. after two seconds there was the text "Warning: The powerkey is long pressed, please release powerkey to avoid system crash" displayed. I pressed it longer and the phone turned off.

Now I have the following problem. When the phone is turned off, I can:

  • press the power button: the phone starts, the "honor … android" logo is shown but nothing more happens. ("fastboot devices" -> no devices found, "adb devices" -> device found but no permission to enter commands)
  • press the power button and the volume up button and the volume down button at the same time: normally this should take me in the recovery mode, mut it doesn’t anymore. Instead the "EMUI" update screen is shown (see above "huawei software installing …" with "0%") ("fastboot devices" -> no devices found, "adb devices" -> no devices found)
  • press the power button and the volume up button at the same time: I get a huawei menu with three buttons: "reboot", "wipe user cache" and "factory reset". I tried both (wipe and reset) wich both finished without an error. But nothing changes ("fastboot devices" -> no devices found, "adb devices" -> no devices found)
  • press the power button and the volume down button at the same time: I get an "eRecovery" menu from huawei with three buttons: "Reboot", "power off" and "Recover with latest software". The last button lets me connect to my wifi and then "searching for packages", with failes all the time. ("fastboot devices" -> no devices found, "adb devices" -> no devices found)

This problem occures with and also without the sd-card. Also there is no "update.zip" or "update.app" on the sd-card.

I really hope somebody can help me. I only need to get into the recovery. If I am there I can recover the backup or install a new ROM. That would be no problem for me. But at the moment I get nothing :crying:

My phone isn’t booting up and stuck on the manufacturer logo . Actually i need to unbrick the phone using a custom rom flashing , So i tried to install a TWRP recovery by using SP Flash tool but nothing has changed , then i founded another way to install the Recovery in fastboot mode but the problem here is the bootloader is locked and i dont know how to unlock it ! How to unlock it ? is there any solution better than this to unbrick the phone ?

To root Smartwatch 3 running MM (MEC24H):
You can use TWRP 2.8.3.0 modded for this.

If your BL is locked, you can’t install it but can boot on it with

Code:
fastboot boot twrp-mec24h.img

If your BL is unlocked, you can install it with

Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-mec24h.img

(i’ve tested and work fine)

When your are on twrp, push Wear-SuperSU-v2.67.zip on sdcard with

adb push Wear-SuperSU-v2.67.zip /data/media/0

. Then, on twrp, install it and reboot.

Installing Busybox 1.24:

Boot on twrp, push busybox with

Can’t boot into twrp and DRM keys

Hey, I followed this guide on my Z5P (cant copy the link, search it in google – twigstechtips blogspo sony z5-compact root without losing ta) until the last stage (not included) and everything succeed.
Now I have mm with root, so I tried to install RomAur, I copied the files (kernel and rom) to ex sd but I couldn’t got access to TWRP I use adb command and power off the device and press plus/minus button but still without success.
Later I tried to flash with cmd the img file of the TWRP, the process succeed but still I couldn’t get access to it.

Another question, I saved my DRM key, can I integrate it with Aur-Kernel-V3.0? cause I couldn’t understand how I should do it on modified kernel.

[Recovery] TWRP 3.0.2 with encryption support [r7plusf][Unofficial]

This recovery will work ONLY for the Snapdragon 615 version of Oppo R7 Plus!

My goal with this UNOFFICIAL twrp recovery is to enable encryption on Oppo R7Plus-f(Snapdragon) version.
Tested with AICP on MarshMallow. Full encryption support.

All hard work was done by the TWRP Team and the R7 kernel gurus at CyanogenMod.
I just made a few additions and changed the official TWRP kernel to the CM kernel using the AICP framework.

To get your Oppo R7Plusf encrypted, there are a few points you must follow.
Note1: This wil not work with ColorOS. The ROM must support encryption. ColorOS does not!
Note2: You will LOOSE ALL DATA if you choose to encrypt your R7Plusf.

Here is a small howto:

Quote:

1. Boot to bootloader and flash TWRP-3.0.2.u
2. Boot to recovery
3. Choose A or B to backup your data
A: Backup Data and copy it to PC (Internal Storage – TWRP/BACKUPS/xxxxxxxx/BackupName)
B: Backup Data to the Micro SDcard (Now, be careful not to format the Micro SD)
4. Wipe -> Format Data (type YES and tap the OK/Enter button)
….This command is slow, have patience!
5. Reboot to android. The install wizard should show – be sure to create a PIN or Pattern kode during the setup.
6. Charge the phone to 90-100%
7. Open Settings/Security and -> Encrypt phone
8. Follow instructions

Now the device will reboot a few times and finally it will boot to the login screen and ask for your pin code.
All this will take time, have patience.

On my AICP ROM it sometimes "hang" when Finishing boot and make some tick sounds. Turning the screen off and on a few times will make it boot to the login and you can enter the PIN or Pattern. It will boot again and quickly get into your Android system.
Once booted to Android, everything is smooth and there are no more issues (at least not encryption related 😀 )
I suspect this could be an issue with my ROM only, but it may be present with CM13 also, as it is using same base and kernel.

I’ve been working on creating the basic device tree needed to get the latest TWRP built for our Honor 7s and most importantly, accepted as an official TWRP recovery. I think I’m basically there, but if anyone can put this test build through its paces, that would be great.

Being officially supported by TWRP means that future recovery versions will be automatically built (and you’ll be able to install using their tool from the Play Store), so it’s worthwhile effort getting to this point.

Flash in the usual way, using ‘fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-plank-test.img’ and let me know how you get on. Cheers!
