TWRP or CWM?

Hello,
i would like to install a custom rom to my china smartphone coolpad 1S with CPU: mtk6592T (armv7 processor rev4(v7l). instruction set: armeabi v7a)
I found many custom roms for my device (for example, the MIUI V6.0),
but i didn’t find a simple guide to flash the rom to my device.

I found only that , to install the custom rom, i need to install a recovery TWRP or CWM.
And i found that i need to create the recovery.
To do this, i found that i must use one of the following tools:

MTKdroid tools, to generate/install the CWM
or
EasyMagic TWRP, to generate/install the TWRP.

I would like to know which of the above is the easiest and safest to be used for my phone.
And, finally, if to install the ROM i need a tool, or if i simply can flash it booting my phone in recovery mode.

Thank you!

Phone keeps booting into chineese twrp recovery and i dont know what to do

Hello,
So i just rootet my phone via twrp and that was all no problem.
Now i wanted to do something else in the recovery and installed a theme because it was chineese.
After that the phone booted into twrp recovery but i realised the theme was ****ty so i tried going back to android.
It just kept going back and restartet into twrp.
I somehow now managed to remove the theme and now my recovery is chineese.
I saw this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show…2451696&page=2 but I dont know how to do it because adb doesnt have a writing function and terminal command always says something with directory stuff.

CWM or TWRP on Hisense Sero 5, help please

Hi everyone, I’m new here so if I’ve just posted this on a wrong place please, just tell me. Also forgive any misspelling, english is not my first language.

Fisrt some introduction, I’ve been having some problems with my new phone, the Hisense HS-L691 or Sero 5, which has a custom android and some trash apps, I’ve normally worked fine on factory androids if they have everything i want which is not much, after a quick root and some deleting trash I encounter whith my first "big" poblem, the factory android doesn’t let me to fully control the volume of my device, which I know it can sound stupid but I can assure it’s been annoying, so I wanted to change the android version (maybe a 5.0 or a clean 4.4.4) I start to search and I find some tutorials which worked fine until I find out I need CWM, I didn’t know what was that (I know, duh) I start looking and I find out there’s no support on my device, I start looking some "universal" tutorials which didn’t work until finally I lost my mind.

tl;dr: Device’s android works like **** and I wanna change it but my device isn’t supported.

So I’m calling for help to anyone who can point me on the right direction, I don’t know how to code but I consider myself a quick learner if you give me the right resources (I woke up without knowing how to make a hard-reset)
I just need that little push, of course if someone can guide me on the process I won’t say no.
Thank you very much for your time, looking forward about your responses.

Clone Fire TV 2 w/ TWRP Backup – possible?

Hey folks,

I would like to clone my fire tv 2 to another one. Was wondering if a simple TWRP-Backup and Restore will work or will it cause problems?

Anyone tried that?

My device does not boot or enter in fastboot mode or twrp (only factory reset)

I have my device rooted with bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed. I tried to install xposed and after clear cache/dalvik it does not boot.

When I try to get into recovery mode it goes to factory reset, not to TWRP  I also tried to enter in fastboot, It worked once but the adb does not recognized it and the phone did not enter in this mode again.

Any advice?? Thanks in advance

Can’t create Nandroid in TWRP – goes to TWRP splash screen

I had TWRP 2.8.7.0 working fine, but tried upgrading to 3.0 –
That had a weird issue where twrp would show the splash screen, the screen would intermittently turn off and on, and keep showing the splash screen, but never entered recovery.
Decided to revert to 2.8.7.0 using flashify… Now when I try to create a nandroid backup in 2.8.7.0, it starts working and then shows the twrp splash screen, and as in 3.0 the screen intermittently turns on and off.

Anyone experienced something like this before? Kind of unsure how to proceed.

Update: now it does the screen intermittently flashing on and off, stuck on twrp flash screen just trying to enter twrp.
Also tried removing SD-Card with no luck

Why doesnt twrp work when my i set my sd card as internal storage?

Hi new poster here,

So i have an t mobile lg g3 and i got the marshmallow/lg g5 rom. I got a new sd card and set it as my internal storage for more space but now whenever i try to go into recovery mode, twrp doesnt load. I messed around with it a few times and found that twrp works fine if I set my sd card as portable storage but it wont load when its set to internal storage. Id like to have my sd card set to internal storage and be able to go into twrp at the same time. Ive tried looking for answers online for hours and i cant seem to find anything on my specific issue. Any ideas what i should do to fix this problem?

Hello guys!

I am in need of some help. I wanted to get root access by installing twrp, and then instantly flash SuperSU, what I just did.
Flash went successful, I kept system read-only to get ota updates, but the phone got stuck on MI logo after reboot.
What should I do to get android up and running again, and not get stuck on MI logo or any kind of bootloop?
I’m on the latest China Dev rom right now. I can enter into TWRP and fastboot mode. Any kind of help is appreciated! :)

Thank you guys! :)

Restored a TWRP backup, now swipe pattern isn’t working

So, I just restored a TWRP backup to my phone from earlier today, and upon boot, I can’t unlock my phone. My fingerprint brings up the unlock pattern as normal, but my phone doesn’t accept the pattern. And it’s the same pattern I’ve always used, so it’s not just me being stupid. Anyone know of a way around this? I’m going to try restoring the backup again, but I’m guessing it won’t work any differently the 2nd time.

Nexus 6p Splash Screen TWRP

Hey guys I just wanted to share this splash screen I created from a few different images I found on google. I don’t take any credit for the actual images found in this photo. I just combined them all since I couldn’t find any splash screens specifically for the Nexus. Load it up in PS or any other editing software and make it into whatever you like. The blank area between the Nexus and Cyanogen logos was where I had my name and info. Just an idea.

How to port twrp 3.x for your device

This Lesson:
Port TWRP 3.x for your device and Port Upgraded TWRP for your device

PORT or UPGRADE

Requirements:
Windows/Linux
Stock Recovery
TWRP 3.x Recovery with same resolution. (Mine: 480×850)

1. Open Cygwin/Kitchen and Installed dir.
2. Lets call Stock Recovery=STOCK
3. TWRP Recovery=PORT
4. Make new folder in kitchen folder "WORKING_Recovery" "rename port.img to boot.img"
5. Now go to boot-tools in kitchen and press "w" it will unpack.
6. Now go to boot-tools in kitchen and press "a" a new dir will be created (boot.img_xxxxxx)
7. Copy STOCK.img to bott.img_xxxxx rename it to boot.img

Open BOOT-EXTRACTED and BOOT.IMG_XXXXX Side by side.

Code:

Delete: In BOOT-EXTRACTED
BOOT-EXTRACTED/zImage
BOOT-EXTRACTED/boot.img-xxxx/ueventd.rc
BOOT-EXTRACTED/boot.img-xxxx/fstab.codename
BOOT-EXTRACTED/boot.img-xxxx/default.prop
BOOT-EXTRACTED/boot.img-xxxx/etc/recovery.fstab

Code:

Copy: from BOOT.IMG-XXXX to BOOTEXTRACTED
BOOT.IMG-XXXX/zImage
BOOT.IMG-XXXX/boot.img-xxxx/ueventd.rc
BOOT.IMG-XXXX/boot.img-xxxx/fstab.codename
BOOT.IMG-XXXX/boot.img-xxxx/default.prop
BOOT.IMG-XXXX/boot.img-xxxx/etc/recovery.fstab

Code:

If Upgrade:
Do same procedure as above and follow this one.

Replace
*BOOT.IMG-XXXX/boot.img-xxxx/etc/twrp.fstab to BOOT-EXTRACTED/boot.img-xxxx/etc/

*=If file not found please try some other recovery which dosent depend on twrp.fstab or you can try copying (recovery.fstab) to same dir and rename (recovery (Copy).fstab) to (twrp.fstab) if it dosent boot try different recovery.

Now open cygwin/kitchen again go to boot-tools and select "b"

Done! you will find your recovery in "WORKING_FIX" Folder as boot.img (with new size)

Code:

Fixes:

Bootloop: Make sure you have replaced ueventd.rc as well as default.prop
your still facing it then? replace uevnted.rc and open default.prop of PORT and STOCK and replace lines from      stock to port. don't add.

Temperature Fix (Only Upgrade): download UEStudio open stock /sbin/recovery in UFAT-8 Mode. Go to find and replace search present TWRP VERSION (EX: 3.0.0-0) to the recovery your porting (EX: 3.0.2-0)

Flashing issues: Error: Overspam size partition. check your recovery partition size. if more than size then forget porting try porting the one with less size.

Any more issues? please comment i ll try to help you out.

Many bugs still on bootloop please try different recoveries.
