TWRP – Your device is . – cannot flash rom

$

Hey guys, first of all sorry for my bad english, its not my mothers language.

I unlocked my bootloader of my Nvidia Shield LTE version and installed TWRP. After that, i run the recovery mode, wiped everything (no OS) and tried to install new ROM. But during this, the console told me, that the .zip is for device shieldtablet and my device is . <—- yeah, no name given.

So i guess twrp cannot notice that this is a shield, and therefore i cannot install another rom and another OS. Now i cannot do anything..

Any ideas?

Hope you can help. Have a nice weekend

[GUIDE] Proscan PLT9650G (RockChip RK3126) Tablet, Root, TWRP, etc

$

*** Use at your own risk these instructions worked for me on MY tablets that is no guarantee they will work for you ***

This is for the ProScan PLT9650G(K-1G-8G) tablet. It has the RockChip RK3126 chipset. The one I am working with was purchased in Canada at the Atlantic Superstore. I will just briefly outline what I needed and had to do to root and install a TWRP recovery on the tablet. See the attachment for the recovery image. I will explain how to get the programs and general steps to make a full backup of the tablet before ever rooting the device. It is a little difficult, and not necessary, but like any backup can be helpful to have around.

Specifications:
The ProScan tablet has:
– Android Lollipop 5.1.1;
– Quad-core Processor, 1.2Mhz;
– 1 GB of DDR3 Memory;
– 8GB Flash Storage;
– 800×480 Screen Resolution.

Backup Overview:
1) Install USB drivers;
2) Put tablet in bootloader mode;
3) Read the different partitions.

Tools Needed:
1) Rockchip Driver Assistant v4.3;
2) Android Tool v2.3.

Detailed Instructions:
This tablet is a newer version and requires at least version 4.3 of the Rockchip Driver Assistant. The older versions (4.1) won’t recognize the USB product id (310D) in bootloader mode.

Download the drivers unrar and run DriverInstall.exe. Select uninstall to clean any old drivers and then select install to install the newer ones. I’ve done this under Windows 7/8.1/10. Since I’ve done it so often and so many times with different driver version, I can’t remember if the bootloader drivers require you install them with the driver signing turned off or not. The problem becomes that the bootloader drivers (under Windows 8+) will fail the driver signing authentication and won’t install. The ADB and MTP drivers are signed and will install correctly, but when you boot the tablet in bootloader mode the device will be unrecognized by Windows. If you end up with this problem follow these instructions and then install the drivers.

After testing on a new machine under Windows 10 the drivers install fine. There is no need to boot with driver signing verification turned off.

Download the Android Tool from the link provided. The link gives a detailed description of how to backup all the partitions. I have included my parameters.txt file that I created. From the standpoint of undoing the root operation described below I believe only the recovery and system partition needs to be saved. But saving all the partitions never hurts. After you have followed the information in the link and saved the partitions you can move on to rooting the device.

One serious warning I have NOT been able to write anything to the device using the Android Tool. It always give me an error and won’t even try. The backups we create can be used from within the tablet to restore it later if needed.

Custom Recovery Overview:
1) Root device;
2) Download the image file on the tablet;
3) Flash the recovery partition with the image file.

Tools Needed:
1) KingRoot;
2) Terminal Application;

Root Device:
The device rooted using KingRoot. Startup the tablet and go through the setup process. Download the apk from the link provided. The version used in testing was 4.6.2. You will need to allow "Unknown sources". The app will eventually give a button just try to root. This will eventually work and the tablet will be rooted.

Copy the img file below onto the internal drive. Make sure you put it in the Download directory. If you are doing this from the tablet it should go there if you move it over using the computer make sure you put it in that directory or change the command below to the proper directory.

Install a terminal emulator. Anyone will do, the one I chose is linked above. Open the emulator and type:

Code:

su

at the prompt. KingRoot should prompt you asking if you want to grant root privilege to the command prompt. Then type the command:

Code:

dd if=/sdcard/Download/TWRP_800x480_Unified.img of=/dev/block/rknand_recovery bs=4096

. That’s it if you type:

Code:

reboot recovery

the tablet will reboot and TWRP should start up.

Notes:
If you saved the original system partition you can install it using TWRP and effectively unroot the device but keep the TWRP recovery. With the recovery image you can install it over the TWRP and return the tablet to its stock state. I’m giving these tablets to my kids and I wanted a way to return them to the state I bought them plus after I’ve personalized them for each of my kids I can make a backup in case they do something that messes them up.

Need some help with the TWRP recovery! Flashing errors

Hi,
So I have TWRP from the toolkit. And I previously had Mokee latest, then I switched to MIUI7 5.11.14(latest).
Now I downloaded Resurrection Remix, and before flashing it I tried to flash MIUI V6.6.10.0.LXIMICF, which failed spectacularly displaying the error below:

mount : failed to mount /dev/block//bootdevice/by-name/userdata at /data : Device or resource busy.
mount : failed to mount /dev/block//bootdevice/by-name/system at /system: Device or resource busy.
the updater script failed to execute

This happens with me quite often when I try to switch between MIUI and CM based ROMs.
And I dunno how this happens but I keep trying to flash MIUI and then reboot if it fails and then wipe "Cache, data, dalvik cache, system" again and flash MIUI again, and sometimes it takes 2-3 tries and it flashes., the script succeeds.
The same happened today
-had MIUI 5.11.14, rebooted to recovery(TWRP)
-wiped [system, data, dalvik cache, cache]
-tried to flash MIUI 6.6.10, it failed
-tried to flash RR, it succeeded but the ROM acted weirdly. The screen would turn off and the phone won’t respond. So no luck
-rebooted wiped [system, data, dalvik cache, cache]
-tried to flash MIUI 6.6.10, it failed
-rebooted and factory reset performed. Tried to flash MIUI 6.6.10, it failed
-rebooted again and factory reset performed. flashed MIUI successfully, then performed factory reset, and flashed RR, and successfully booted up the ROM. Finally

This type of flash failure is not limited to the 6.6.10, it happens with 6.7.2 and also 5.8.11(dev version)

Can someone tell me why this happens, and does it happen on everyone’s Mi4i? Or am I doing something wrong?
I know its long but I had to explain what I did properly.

Restore backup from twrp

Hey I installed twrp and blisspop on my phone before I installed blisspop I made a backup of my stock ROM. Then I had that annoying issue with Google play services and I could not get gapps to install directly. I have figured that part out and play services are working fine now but at one point I tried to restore my backup and it said system partition is read only. I’ve never had thatissue before on any of my devices. Is there a way to fix that?

Phone Not Detected In Windows When In TWRP ADB Sideload Mode

$

I’ve recently unlocked my bootloader and flashed TWRP to replace my stock recovery.
Before I unlocked it, I would normally use the temporary CWM to sideload files, without issue.

Now when I go into "Advanced" and start "ADB Sideload" the device is no longer detected by ADB or my Windows device manager.
I’ve tried removing the drivers when in recovery, then unplugging it and plugging it back in when Sideload is active, but nothing pops up in my device manager.
I’ve tried removing the drivers when in recovery, unplugging my phone, replugging it to get the drivers to install, then going into Sideload without unplugging it.

I’m at wit’s end trying to figure this out, do I still have to use the temp ClockWorkMod recovery to sideload, or can I make it work in TWRP?

MTP/PTP suddenly stopped working…but strangely works while in TWRP recovery?

I’ve had my 6P for about 2weeks, MTP has been working fine since the beginning.

However, yesterday when I connected it to my Windows 10 laptop, explorer does not show the Nexus 6P device.

Before anyone asks, yes, I have selected File Transfers under the drop down menu. I tried PTP too but it’s the same problem.

I’ve tried almost everything, installing/uninstalling all sorts of drivers. ADB/Fastboot drivers work perfectly. Under device manager, my computer recognizes when my 6P is plugged in as "MTP USB Device", but is unable to get anymore information on it for some reason.

I then tried putting it in TWRP recovery, and surprisingly, my computer is able to recognize this as a new usb device "Nexus 6P", and I can access the internal storage without problems.

Rebooting back to system, the device is unrecognizable once again.

I first suspected it to be because I updated windows 10 yesterday, but the same problem exists on another PC.

Does anyone know what is going on here? I really don’t wanna have to reboot to recovery just to transfer files over USB, and I know there are wireless transfer options but I want to fix this issue.

Thanks!

Where can I find the img for twrp and s6 edge I want to flash a few roms and make a few backups unless people are doing something different?

no os w/ twrp

I had rooted folowing a youtube guide about a month ago. Then decided to unroot. Had trouble and eventually installed twrp. Then did a stupid thing and ended up wiping everything. Now says there’s no os and can do nothing but load twrp recovery and go into odin download mode. Also, touch screen has been left/right reversed so that to tap on a button on the left i have to tap the right. Up/down is still correct.

Originally my problem was that odin failed with writing despite using several different usb cords and multiple usb ports. I just want to have the phone back to factory. I dont know what build i was using when i rooted either.

first off I’ll admit I’m a dummy.

Previously, I had LG G3 d852g on Koodo. I did a back up with TWRP and later the phone died and wouldn’t turn on. I took the phone back to the carrier.

I thought I could save time restoring my apps by restoring the old backup…. I can’t because of a different iemi #

TWRP does respond, but my phone is boot looped since I did a Wipe cache, dalvik cache, system and data before restoring the back up.

I tried to flash a stock rom, but found out the otg cable isn’t recognizable in TWRP.

Should I try [Guide] LG G3 Stock Firmware (Go Back to Stock) KDZ & TOT Method http://forum.xda-developers.com/show….php?t=2785089 or is there a better method to get me out of the loop?
