Unofficial TWRP Touch Recovery for Samsung Nexus S codename CRESPO

TWRP is an open source, community project. TWRP development is done by roughly 4 people at this point. We also have a large support community with many people who are willing to answer questions and help people with their devices either through our IRC channel or on forums like xda-developers.

Team Win was originally formed to work on porting WiMAX to CM7 for the HTC EVO 4G. After our work on the EVO 4G we wanted to work on a project that would work on more devices than just the EVO 4G and we settled on working on a recovery. Today TWRP is the leading custom recovery for Android phones.

A custom recovery is used for installing custom software on your device. This custom software can include smaller modifications like rooting your device or even replacing the firmware of the device with a completely custom “ROM” like OmniROM

You can find the source code for TWRP at github.com/omnirom/android_bootable_recovery/

Hello Everyone,
I’ve seen many people had this problem with nightly builds of CM unfortunately non of the fixes provided in threads that I have read fixes it for me.

I have oneplus One i tried from CM 11 to CM 13 nothing helped. I tried flashing TWRP to 2.8.6.0 and it didn’t help.

I tried changing radio bands and preferred connections (lte/gsm/wcdma e.t.c) nothing helped.

I tried also flashing different modems for CM but it didn’t fix anything.

Is there someone who can help me with my issue?

Thanks.

TWRP 2.8.7.0 Nandroid backup didn’t fully restore using updated TWRP 3.0

I’m on the unofficial CM 12.1 build and went back to my stock rom after a full factory reset and it restored fine but when going back to my custom rom backed up by TWRP 2.8.7.0 and restored using newer 3.0 version most of my apps were missing along with my browser website links folder as well. The stock rom I restored was also one from the older TWRP version restored by the newer 3.0 version and it worked fine. This is the first nandroid restore I’ve ever done that didn’t just restore it exactly like I left it and it has me a bit worried.

When I flashed the new TWRP 3.0 and tried to do a current backup it failed saying my system was set to read only. I changed this in TWRP’s settings and the backup worked but I don’t remember this system RW change being an issue with the older version. Are these changes meant for Marshmallow’s more restrictive firmware and just tweaks we will have to make on older lollipop roms ?

After OTA 3.0 update, TWRP screen shows up after reboot?

So, I just downloaded the OTA 3.0 update and it said to reboot to continue? So, I let it reboot but after rebooting, it loaded up the TWRP screen?

What should I do?

No root and acces to TWRP after B317 update

Hi
I hope someone can help me with this.
I have updated my P8 from B200 Lollipop to B317 Marshmallow. Update completed with come errors in stock recovery but phone seems to be in perfect order and fully updated to the latest build.
Now my problem is I’ve lost the root access. I was expecting this to happen after the update but now I can’t re-root it.
In fastboot, I can flash twrp 2.8.7.0 and twrp 2.8.7.0 no problem. It all seems ok in fastboot window, however after recovery is flashed I’m trying to access it from bootloader holding power + volume up.
Unfortunately, at first phone was in bootloop and after a few loops was starting normally, and recovery was back to stock. Now after another few ties of flashing twrp recoveries and trying to access it it goes straight to stock recovery, like custom was never installed. Does not even give me bootloop anymore.
I have tried to press and hold both volume buttons but with similar result.
Recovery is not important to me as long as I have get my phone rooted but it seems like there is no other way to push SuperSU to the system without the custom recovery.
KingRoot app worked with Lollipop byt it fails now.
Booting to recovery without installing it also dees not work from fastboot.

Does anyone have an idea how to root this B317 or have tried the roll back to B200 with success ?

TWRP 3.0.0.0 Restore Backup Error

Hello guys,

I’m experiencing some troubles with the new 3.0.0.0 TWRP.
When I try to restore a backup (that I’ve made with 3.0.0.0) I always get the error message: Cannot restore System – read mount only

Does anybody have a similar problem? Maybe there’re just some settings that need to be fixed. Would be nice if anybody could help me, because one of the core features of TWRP is to restore backups. At least for me.

Any idea appreciated

Ah oh, I’m running CM13 02.22.2016 nightly

[WIP][Recovery]{Unofficial} TWRP v2.8.7.0

Hello everyone, I have been working hard last night to make twrp run on our watches, and this I think is a good representation on what itll be like with actual development going on

As far as I understand people are able to get backups of their watch in order to preserve OTA’s before rooting, and I was able to flash some zips and kernels successfully, and I fixed the UI to look better and actually usable on the watch

Also, I was able to flash this puppy, and I got android wear to boot with it flashed, however sometimes it goes haywire and only boots into recovery. Same thing applies, this shall be a Tethered recovery unless you are brave enough to flash it and test

As always, problems can arise on your watch, so be careful!

Here is the link to the fixed twrp

Get into fastboot, either by enabling adb by enabling developer options going into settings, about, and taping the Build number 8 times, and going back, down to developer options and enable ADB Debugging.

Then you can type into your CMD or terminal adb reboot-bootloader or by powering down by holding the button or power down in settings, when the screen goes black, repress and hold the button and swipe the screen from the upper left down to the lower right and that should bring up the ASUS logo with CSC Fastboot Mode! on the screen

Now to use it is solely up to you, you can either continue to boot the recovery by typing fastboot boot recovery.img or you can flash it with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img it is weird but i found that fastboot flashing makes it more prone to issues, like only powering into recovery, over fastboot booting it and then flashing twrp with twrp However more than once i had it only boot me into the recovery partition either way, so flash at your own risk!

I also have a kernel underway if people would like to try it out and test it in the next couple days

Stuck at boot logo after partitioning externalSD in twrp

Hi guys. One of my friend has this phone. Yesterday night he did these steps:

1. unlocked bootloader (booting properly)
2. flashed twrp recovery
3. flashed su for rooting but didnt know how to update su binaries (booting properly)
4. went to twrp and partitioned external sd card (fat32+ext3+swap)
5. fixed permission
after restarting it got stuck at htc boot logo

so he gave me phone for repairing xD
here’s status.
i removed sdcard.. put it in card reader.. n merged all partitions into single one just like it was before partitioning
now, i am able to see that white screen called "software status" (don’t what does it called) through which i can have access to:

recovery
factory reset
simlock
check smartsd
image crc
show barcode

so basically, i need to get the installed stock htc firmware working again.
i searched forums and found European stock 5.0.2 fw. so should i flash that zip from twrp on this Indian origin phone??
or should i try factory resetting from that white screen??

basically i want to undo partitioning modifications from os and get the phone working on stock fw just like before. thanks

TWRP is broken. Again.

I’m on official TWRP 3.0.0-1 and I downloaded directly from twrp.me

$

I am trying to restore my phone back to stock but am having problems. If i try to use stock recovery and have the B156 UPDATE.APP on a SD card it says its the wrong version for my phone. If i try to use eRecovery it complains about failing to get package info. I dont know if its because my phone is currently showing a model number of "NEXT" (using a rayglobe rom at the moment).

Any help would be appreciated.

[Guide] Flash Ubuntu Touch via TWRP

$

Want to try Ubuntu Touch but don’t wanna lose your data or get into the hassless of flashing it through Ubuntu on PC? Well, I got you covered :D. Although, do note that it is basically a backup of the ROM, which i just booted into and backed up. So you will be setting it up from scratch just like a fresh install/flash.

Now, I’ve personally tested it by switching to an Android ROM, wiping the 4 Partitions and then restoring this backup, so yes I can confirm that it works!

What you need:-
TWRP 2.8.6.0
The TWRP Backup
WinRAR (32 bit or 64 bit)

Instructions:-
1. Download the Backup and TWRP
2. Flash TWRP, I’d recommend using the official TWRP 2.8.6.0 to avoid any issues.
3. After downloading the backup(5 Files), copy them all in the same folder and extract the one without any .z extension. I splitted them to avoid any issues with files bigger than 4GB, because the backup is 4.01GB in size.
4. After extracting you’ll find a single TWRP folder, connect you device and copy it to the main directory of your device’s storage, Click "Yes" if it asks for replacing any files.
5. Boot into TWRP and Backup your ROM(Optional)
6. Go back to the main TWRP Home screen->Press Wipe->Advanced Wipe->Mark Dalvik Cache,System,Data and Cache (Make sure you don’t tick Internal Storage or USB-OTG).
7. While in TWRP, go to the main home screen and press Restore, there select "Ubuntu Touch" and leave all the 4 Boxes checked. Then, Swipe the button on the bottom and wait. The Numbers won’t get updated but don’t worry, it is getting restored and can take around 3-5 minutes.
7. Restore the backup. It will stay on the 1+ logo for a while so have some patience.

Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, so don’t point the finger at me for messing up your device.

Pimp My Rom / no signal after applying tweaks / rescue.zip not flashable by TWRP etc

hi,

the title says it all. I applied tweaks with Pimp My Rom on Android 6.0 with FrancoKernel. After that i don’t get any signal anymore, except around the corner at mc donalds, but only 2g. i tried flashing the rescue.zip but it gives me an error. does anybody know how i can make the settings undone (reverting settings won’t work) without doing a factory reset, cause i don’t have the nerve for that.

[Help] Xperia M probably bricked after installing TWRP into boot partition

$

Hi,
I was trying to install CM13 and GApps on my Xperia M when things started to go wrong. Finally I ended up trying to get TWRP running. Unfortunately I flashed the TWRP.img not only in my recovery, but also on my boot partition (or how do you call that).
The result is that my device won’t start up any more: when pushing the power button I only get one buzz and then nothing. I can push the power button a few seconds later again, with the same result. When I attach my device with a USB cable to my pc I get one red light flash, but I cannot put the phone in fastboot or flash mode (no green or blue led light). However, when the phone is attached, the flashtool indicates that the device is connected in flashmode. Unfortunately I can’t use flashtool to get anything installed (see log below). I should also add that the power up button doesn’t work anymore since long (so no way to get into fastboot anyhow) and that when charging the phone with a wall socket charger, I get a red flashing light (no constant red light).

I already tried everything I could find on this forum – especially the content of "[GUIDE] Recover 2012 and newer XPERIAs from SOFT-brick" was very interesting.
I mostly want to hear from you whether I can continue trying, or whether my phone is officially bricked!…

Thanks in any case,
tim

Will TWRP Galaxy Core Prime Qualcomm custom recovery work on the SM-G360G model?

$
0
0

Hi all,
I have done a considerable amount of googling, and can’t seem to find an answer, given that most online sources contradict one another on the topic. I am trying to root my Galaxy Core Prime (SM-G360G), and as a precaution, I am interested in installing a custom recovery. My searches have led me to the TWRP Core Prime Qualcomm recovery. Given that my device contains a qualcomm processor, I initially assumed that the recovery would be fine to install. However, the download link actually leads to a Galaxy Core Prime LTE recovery. I’m very confused about it all, but I don’t know if I should risk installing the file. I do not want to break my phone, after all. It would be so useful if I could get some informed opinions on this, given I’m pretty amateur. Let me know if I’ve missed any details.
Thanks for all the help :)
